Jacari is a student charity providing home tutoring for children aged 4-16 who don't speak English as their first language.  Students spend an hour a week helping a child in the areas in which they are struggling.  This has been proven to result in improved performance at school and an increase in the child's confidence outside the classroom.  By volunteering you will:

  • Build a lasting relationship with your pupil and their family
  • Experience Oxford outside the University bubble
  • Make a tangible difference to a child's life

As the oldest student charity of Oxford University we have an established support system that provides training sessions, teaching materials and individual support. No teaching experience is required, the hours are flexible and if you need more persuasion, it looks great on a CV.
