Applications are now open for the Jacari committee at Oxford University, for Trinity 2017-Easter 2018
Being on the committee is a fantastic opportunity to have real influence over the management of a local charity. You’ll work as part of a team along with the Coordinator to help Jacari continue its good work and improve its operations.
As well as being a lot of fun, a committee position is a chance to develop your skills, enhance your CV, and have a meaningful social impact in the local community.
Each role has an expected commitment level of around 1.5 hours per week.
The roles available are listed below. To apply, please fill in this application form by Friday 12th May.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Sabreen on firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have experience working in committees, and are looking to bring this to the Jacari team, then this is for you. You’ll be leading the weekly meetings, delegating tasks, and making sure the committee events are running smoothly. You’ll also work with the Coordinator and committee to promote Jacari at Freshers’ Fair, volunteer fairs, and around colleges.
Publicity Officers (2)
In this role, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to be creative. You’ll be responsible for our recruitment strategy, publicising our events, and raising our profile among the student body. Tasks will involve website management, social media management, and event promotion.
If you’re passionate about teaching and learning, this is the perfect opportunity to shape how Jacari trains and supports its volunteers. You’ll be expected to deliver our monthly induction session, plan volunteer workshops, organise group classes, and share tips and resources with volunteers.
Volunteer Engagement Officers (2)
This role is all about building and maintaining networks with volunteers. You should be persuasive and approachable. You will be responsible for keeping in touch with volunteers, and building a stronger community of volunteers through socials. You’ll also liaise with volunteers to gain feedback on how Jacari can improve, via surveys and focus groups, and providing recommendations for areas of improvement which benefit volunteers, pupils, parents and teachers.
This role is an opportunity to be creative and implement innovative fundraising ideas. Supported by the committee, you’ll be in charge of raising up to £2000 over the course of the year from a variety of sources. This is great experience for anyone wanting to go into charity management or fundraising after university.
Kids’ Events Officer
Jacari aims to hold two exciting kids’ events each term, which volunteers and pupils can attend together. In this role, you’ll be taking a lead on organising these trips and helping them run smoothly. In the past, we’ve been ice skating, rock climbing, to the museum and to the pantomime!
If you have experience with web design or WordPress then this role is perfect for you. You will be responsible for maintaining the Jacari website and redesigning it to better suit our organisation’s needs. There are also opportunities to liaise with our developers about how Jacari can adapt its technology for a better service.
