We’ve recently launched our 2023-24 annual impact report. Our annual impact report tells the story of our year and shows the impact of Jacari support for children and young people who use English as an Additional Language (EAL). It also includes four wonderful case studies about some of our pupils and their volunteer tutors. It definitely makes for an inspiring read!

How do we measure the impact?
Each year we collect both quantitative and qualitative data to assess the impact of Jacari on pupils’ language skills, confidence and aspirations. We send surveys to our pupils, their parents/carers, volunteer tutors and partner school teachers. We also ask our partner schools to assess pupils' level of proficiency in different language skills using EAL Bands at the start and end of the academic year. Our Coordinators also gather feedback throughout the year.
2023-24 in numbers
We supported 293 children and young people who use English as an additional language
52% were primary and 48% secondary pupils
We supported 79 EAL pupils through our new peer tutoring programme, and 71 sixth form volunteers
In total, we worked with 239 volunteers who provided regular tutoring to our pupils
We organised 13 trips and events, attended by 189 people (pupils, their families and volunteers)
We partnered with 19 schools, which had an average of 43% EAL pupils
